The French Food Health and Safety Agency (AFSSA) issued a health claim relating to the health effect of various food matrixes containing oat soluble fiber from  OatWell  oat bran  and other eligible oat sources, based on application submitted by CreaNutrition AG. 2009

The European Food Safety Authority - Scientific Opinion on the substantiation of health claims related to beta glucans and maintenance of normal blood cholesterol concentrations

Following a request from the European Commission, the Panel on Dietetic Products, Nutrition and Allergies was asked to provide a scientific opinion on a list of health claims pursuant to Article 13 of Regulation 1924/2006. On the basis of the data available, the Panel concludes that a cause and effect relationship has been established between the consumption of oat beta-glucans and the reduction of blood cholesterol concentrations.
